Acting PM expresses condolences after cricket fan dies during CPL match

BEAUSEJOUR, St. Lucia, CMC- The St. Lucian Government has expressed condolences to the family of a cricket fan who passed away tragically during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match between St. Lucia Zouks and Antigua Hawkbills at the Beausejour Ground Tuesday night

A release from the administration in Castries says acting Prime Minister Philip Pierre has expressed sympathies to the family and friends of Julian Agard who died after he was electrocuted during the game.

“The acting Prime Minister on Wednesday 7th August visited the mother of Mr. Agard in Dennery to personally express regret and to convey the sentiments of  the Prime Minister at the untimely death of her son,” said the government statement.

“The loss of a loved one, particularly in tragic circumstance is always difficult to come to terms with. However, the outpouring of love and concern that has been witnessed thus far, the family of Mr. Agard can rest assured that the entire country shared in their loss”.

Agard, a former police officer and basketball coach, was already dead when he was brought to the medical centre.

He was also a former member of the St Lucia Youth Council.

St. Lucia Zouks lost the match by 33 runs as the Hawkbills got their first taste of victory in the tournament.
