Guyana sweep table tennis titles

Guyana’s male and female U19 teams made a clean sweep of the team titles of the annual Inter Guiana Games yesterday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The Guyana girls beat Suriname 3-0 in the final with Akeicia Nedd defeating Afielle Hooghart 3-0; Priscilla Greaves getting the better of  Zoue Hooghart 3-0 and  in the doubles the pair of Nedd/Greaves defeating  A Hooghart/Z Hooghart 3-0.

The Guyana girls’ B team also defeated their Surinamese counterparts 3-0. Anna Joao beat Zoue Hooghart 3-0, Jewel Todd beat A Hooghart 3-0, and Todd/Joao beat Z Hooghart/A Hooghart 3-0.

Guyana A girls beat Guyana B 3-0. A Nedd beat Anna Joao 3-0, Priscilla Greaves beat Jewel Todd 3-0, Nedd/Greaves beat Joao/Todd 3-0.

In the male competition Guyana A boys beat Guyana B 3-2. David Duncan lost to Elishaba Johnson 1-3; Stefan Corlette beat Kevon Corbin 3-1; and Duncan/ Corlette beat Johnson/Corbin 3-1. In the reverse singles  Stefan Corlette lost to Elishaba Johnson 1-3 but David Duncan beat K Corbin 3-1.

Guyana B boys also defeated Suriname 3-2. K Corbin lost to Maurice Lie 1-3 but Elishaba Johnson beat Adesh Jawahir 3-0. The pair of Corbin/ Johnson beat M Lie/ A Jawahir 3-0 in the boys doubles  while in the reverse singles Johnson lost to M Lie 0-3 and  K Corbin beat A Jawahir 3-0.

Guyana A boys then beat Suriname 3-2. David Duncan lost to Maurice Lie 1-3; Stefan Corlette beat Adesh jahwair 3-0; Duncan/Corlette beat Lie/Jawahir 3-2;  S Corlette lost to M lie 1-3 and

D Duncan beat A Jawahir 3-0.
