ST.GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC– Jamaica subdued Barbados by six wickets at the national stadium yesterday to retain their title as champions of women’s T20 cricket in the Caribbean.
An all-round effort from Stafanie Taylor and a top score of 44 from Natasha Mclean guided the Jamaicans to victory as they finished the tournament undefeated.

Winning the T20 tournament also meant Jamaica had made a clean sweep of regional women’s cricket titles this year after capturing the Super 50 staged earlier.

The Bajans run rate was heavily restricted after they won the toss and decided to take first knock.

Kycia Knight spearheaded the fight to restore credibility to their innings with a top score of 25 and receiving some support from Shaquana Quintyne 20, Charlene Taitt who was run out for 16 and Kyshonna Knight 15.

Vanessa Watts led the Jamaican bowling with 2 for 17 in four overs while Karla Cohen, Shanel Daley, chedean Nation and Stafanie Taylor took a wicket each.

A powerful 79 run opening partnership between Taylor and Mclean set the stage for the Jamaican victory.

Mclean cracked four fours to reach her 44 from 45 balls while Taylor, who was lbw for 32, had earlier picked up a wicket for 18 runs in her four overs.

The main wicket taker for Barbados was Shakera Selman with two for 18 as Jamaica romped to victory at 106 for 4 in 16.5 overs.
