Georgetown women footballers trounce Berbice

Buoyed by four doubles, the female ball weavers of Georgetown thrashed their Berbician counterparts, nine-nil on Wednesday night at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground in their semi final fixture of the Slingerz/National Association for Women Football Goal for Goal tournament.

Goals off the boots of Andrea  Lashley (6th and 34th minute), Collette Hope (13th and 26th), Kendra Thom (38th and 55th), Althea Holligan (45th and 60th) as well as a strike by Neshanna Castello on the stroke of halftime (30th) put paid to the ballers of the Ancient County.

With the emphatic victory, the city ladies will move on to face Bartica in the finals on Sunday at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground.

The Berbician females will lock horns with the ladies from West Demerara today at the GFC ground in the third place match up.
