Priyanna Ramdhani and Abosaide Cadogan won gold in the girls U13 singles and U11 doubles divisions respectively when the age group events of the Caribbean Badminton Confederation International Junior Championships (CAREBACO) continued on Friday in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The diminutive Ramdhani crushed Jamaican Shezelle McTyson in straight sets 21-11, 21-13 to medal in her fifth straight Caribbean Championships.
Cadogan partnering Surinamese Erisa Bleau won their matchup in straight sets by a 21-17, 21-11 margin. Ramdhani also collected a silver medal in the U13 mixed doubles final. Partnering with Trinidad and Tobago’s Leon Cassie, they would go down to the Dominican Republic pair of Edision Ramirez and Mileiki Munoz in straight sets 21-17, 21-13. The presentation ceremony was scheduled for Friday evening. Team Guyana is expected to receive eight medals.
