Singh made his comparisons after smashing a blistering century to lead India to a 77-run victory over West Indies A in the first one-day match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.

Beaton is among 14 cricketers from the various territories in the region attending the Sagicor High Performance Centre (HPC) at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.

“Beaton is the future fast bowler for the West Indies,” said Singh.

“He reminds me of Curtly. Obviously Curtly was great, but I think he has lot of potential and I think it was a very good attack”.

The India A captain, who is making a claim for national selection, smashed seven sixes during his 89-ball 123.

The Indians set the visitors a huge target of 313 in a reduced 42 over-per-side match and then restricted them to 235 off 39.1 overs

“I think I have worked hard in my off-season on my batting and other skills in last couple of weeks,” he said.

“Robin (Uthappa) and Mandy gave us a good start which allowed me and Yusuf (Pathan) to catch up at the end.”

West Indies A would be seeking to draw level and prevent India A from sealing the three-match unofficial ODI series against West Indies A in the second 50-over game between the two sides at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here Tuesday.
