Jets defeats Bulls 71-64 in Linden basketball

Amelia’s Ward Jets defeated Half Mile Bulls 71-64 when action in the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) /Trophy Stall Championship continued at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) Hard court on Wednesday.

Shane Webster led the victors with a game high 29 points. He was assisted by Kevin Joseph and Rodwell Pellew who netted 15 and eight points respectively. Leading the scoring for the losers was Travin Dryden, Keon Cameron and Terron Welch who netted 20, 17 and eight points correspondingly.

The opening period belonged to the Jets as they went into the second period leading 19-15. Half Mile Bulls took the second period, outscoring Jets 18-10 as they went in to the third quarter leading 33-29.

The Amelia’s Ward side registered 18 points in the third quarter as they went into the fourth period leading 48-45. Building on the previous period, the Jets registered 23 points in the quarter while holding their opponents to 19 points to clinch the win.

In the earlier matchup, Retrieve Raiders edged Bankers Trust Falcons by a 64-61 score line. Neil Marks shot a game high 25 points for the victors while Yannick Primo and Sheldron Noel contributed 10 and nine points respectively.

Lawrence DeCosta and Lennard Caleb top scored for Falcons with 23 and 20 points respectively.

Trailing 18-15 going into the second, Raiders battled back as they outscored Falcons 20-14 to go into the half 35-32. Raiders narrowly outscored the Falcons 15-14 as the third period ended 50-46. The fourth period saw the Falcons narrowly outscoring the Raiders 15-14 as the latter held on to clinch the three point win.
