Trinidad striker launches his Indian League campaign with a match winning brace

MAPUSA, India,  CMC-Trinidad and Tobago striker Cornel Glenn has announced his arrival in the Indian I League Premier Division with a brace that inspired Shillong Lajong to a three-nil win over former champions, Dempo.

Glenn, who arrived in India last month after signing from T&T Pro League club, North East Stars fired Shillong into the lead mid-day in the first half while Boithang Haokip made it 2-0 eight minutes.

The 32-year-old striker added his second of the match and his team’s third to condemn four-time Indian champions Dempo to an opening day loss at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa. Glenn, the only World Cup player in the 2013-14 season, has helped move Lajong to the top of the 13-team standings on goal-difference from Pune, which it faces on Sunday.

Glenn, who has scored 23 goals for the Soca Warriors from 68 matches and was part of the squad that reached the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals, was voted as the “Man of the Match”.
