MYSORE, India, CMC- The twin-spin attack of Nikita Miller and Veerasammy Permaul has put West Indies A in firm control against India A on the third day of their four-day unofficial test match here yesterday.
Miller and Permaul accounted for nine of the ten India A first innings wickets as the home side, 124 for three overnight, collapsed for 245 at Gangothri Glades Cricket Ground.
At stumps, Kirk Edwards’ men had tightened their grip on the match and were leading by 314 runs.
Manpreet Juneja top scored with an impressive 84 that steadied the hosts but his dismissal sparked a slide that put West Indies A in charge.
India A had moved to 184 for three when Juneja, who hit 11 fours, was trapped lbw by left-arm spinner Permaul.
The rest of the batsmen were clueless against the spinners, with only the wicketkeeper-batsman Rohit Motwani providing any resistance to be unbeaten on 28 as Miller and Permaul ran through the lower order.
The home side lost their final seven wickets for 61 runs as Permaul ended with five for 85 and Miller four for 61.
A 112-run opening stand between Kieran Powell and Kraigg Braithwaite stretched West Indies lead and put them in a position to press for an outright victory.
Powell hit nine fours and two sixes and dominated the partnership with an aggressive 68 while Braithwaite hit five fours in a knock of 34.
