Taylor’s superb play seals series for Windies women

KINGSTON, Jamaica,  CMC- Stafanie Taylor unleashed an amazing display with bat and ball to reinforce her ranking as the world’s leading all-rounder in women’s cricket and guided West Indies to a convincing 95 run win over New Zealand here yesterday.

Taylor conjured a superb unbeaten century and  took four wickets to rip the fight out of New Zealand  and ensure  the West Indies clinch the three match series at Sabina Park after both teams were locked on one game each.

The 22-year-old batted  beautifully to end on 135 not out , her fifth international century, as West Indies posted 238-6 off 50 overs and led the bowling attack that destroyed the visitors who were all out for  143 in 43 overs.

The talented Jamaican cricketer faced 148 balls and played a number of sparkling shots in a flamboyant innings that included 14 fours and two sixes.

She received good support from left-hander Kycia Knight and skipper Merissa Aguilleira – who both made 20.

The off-spinner returned to take four wickets for 35 runs from eight overs  to engineer the demise of the New Zealanders.

She received help in the bowling from Shanel Daley two for 28 while Shaquana Ouintyne and Anisa Mohammed grabbed a wicket each.

Taylor ended the series as the leading allrounder with 182 runs and 11 wickets and was an easy choice for Player of the Series.

Rain interrupted play for a short period early in the New Zealand run chase but play resumed shortly after the shower had subsided.
