GCA/Carib Beer T20 second round bowls off today

The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Carib Beer sponsored first division T20 competition will bowl off their second round today with two matches at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) Thomas Lands.

Defending champions Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), who registered 57-run victory over MSC in the first round, will go head-to-head with a young Everest Cricket Club lineup in the first encounter before taking on Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) at 13:30hrs.

The champs will be looking to continue their winning ways with the likes of Guyana and West Indies T20 all-rounder Christopher Barnwell, Trevon Griffith, Derwin Christian and Paul Wintz, to the fore.

Other players such as Dennis ‘Bitterman’ Squires, Totaram Bishun, Andre Stoll, Andrew Lyght Jnr, Brian Sattaur and Kevin George will also feature in the DCC camp.

West Indies Under-19 opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul, National opener Rajendra Chandrika, National leg spinner Amir Khan, Javed Rasheed, Troy Gonsalves, Zaheer Mohammed and Joseph Perry represent their club Everest.

GNIC lineup includes Marc Nicholson, Quincy Ovid-Richardson, Collis Butts, Dexter Solomon, Ryan Shun, and Ranole Bourne. National coach Esuan Crandon and Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Chairman of Selectors Rayon Griffith will look to roll back the years in their encounter.

Discarded national opener Shemroy Barrington, Shaquille Williams, Kellon Carmichael, Steven Sankar and another former national off-spinner Dion Ferrier, will bolster the Thomas Lands based MSC lineup, who will be without the services of all-rounder Steven Jacobs.

The action will continue tomorrow with double headers at both the MSC and Police Sports Club ground commencing at the same time as today, with Transport Sports Club taking on Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) and Police looking to arrest Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), with both matches being played at Eve Leary.

Across at MSC, DCC will take on GNIC in the first game while the home team will go head to head with Everest in the second.
