Three teams record wins in O-40 cricket

Abdur Kalib from West Coast Demerara Seals’ Abdur Kalib yesterday blasted a belligerent 93 to help his team defeat Lower East Coast Bulls at the Zeeburg Community Centre ground in a fourth round encounter of the Demerara Cricket Board/Raj Singh Insurance Brokers O40 limited overs tournament.

and Clifton Anderson leading the way with 54, 53 and 47 runs respectively.

In reply, West Coast Demerara Seals’ Basdeo Persaud scored 62 not out  while man-of-the-match, Kalib, hoisted eight sixes and slammed nine fours  as the Seals reached the target in 19.3 overs  for the loss of one wicket.

At the Enmore Community Centre ground, Upper East Bank Colts managed 118 for 7 with Otis George top scoring with 25 and Rohan Sarjoo 20.

John Hardatt and Ramnarine Seebalack took three wickets each.

Upper East Coast Tigers overhauled the score in 19.5 overs for the loss of six wickets. Ramo Malone made 33 and man-of-the-match, Hardatt, 29. S. Ramdeen grabbed 2 for 11.

At the Everest Cricket Club ground, Lower East Bank Lions strangled Georgetown Buffaloes by 46 runs. Batting first, Lions totaled 173 for 9. Nigel Bissu top scored with 39 while Deonarryan Debidial and Ronald Jaisingh scored 31 apiece.

Match MVP, Fitzroy Culley captured  5 for 9.

In reply, Buffaloes crumbled to 127 all out in 19.3 overs. S. Bentick and Culley were among the runs with 30 and 17 respectively while Ronald Jaisingh and Latchman Persaud each finished with figures of 3 for 10.

The scheduled match between West Demerara Mavericks and Georgetown Bears will now be played today at the Wales Community Centre ground, starting at 13:00 hours.
