Everest wins twice against touring Canada side

An all-round performance from Everest Cricket Club (ECC) skipper Troy Gonsalves set up a comfortable 88-run win yesterday against the touring Ontario Cricket Association (OCA)team at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

winning the toss. West Indies Under-19 opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul and former West Indies test batsman Ryan Ramdass supported Gonsalves with 35 runs each.

Bowling for the OCA, Ayoub Ahmad picked up 3 for 31.

The OCA team in reply ended on 63 for 8 from their allotted 20 overs.

Dion Thomas grabbed two wickets while there was a wicket each for Amir Khan, Chris Surat and Raphael Singh. A.  Hussain (13) was the only batsman to make double figures for the Canadian side.

In the first match played on Sunday at the Enmore Cricket Club ground, Enmore made 107 for 2 with spinner Amir Khan top scoring with 53 and Chanderpaul 49.

In reply Canada stumbled to 96 for 8 from their 40 overs with Bhadwaraj Neerj (18) and Guyanese fast-bowler Trevon Garraway (18) being the significant scorers. N. Dayal and C. Ramlall grabbed three wickets each for the East Coast team.

The Canadians will now face the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) today at 13:00hrs at the Bourda Cricket ground. They play their final match tomorrow against Albion at the Port Mourant Community Development Centre  ground.
