NA/Canje cricketers to battle Upper Corentyne

-finals to be held under floodlights

The No. 69 Vikings ground in Upper Corentyne, Berbice will come alive today in what is expected to be the biggest cricketing event of the year in the area under floodlights.

Organized by the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) with assistance from the Berbice Cricket Board the tournament will feature New Amsterdam/Canje taking on the Upper Corentyne at 10am while the second match will bowl off at 2pm with West Berbice doing battle with Lower Corentyne.

The finals will start at 6.30pm under floodlights with Slow Fire sounds providing the entertainment, games for the kids and a gate prize drawing during the interval of the final.

The Upper Corentyne selectors have announced their squad while the BCB is working on the other three teams, a press statement from the UCCA said. The squad reads: Lakeram Latchman, captain; Sherwin Murray, vice captain; Farazz Mohamed, Munesh Lalu, Omesh Kumar, Parmeshwar Chatterpaul, Omesh Khemraj, Gajendra Nauth, Charles France-wk, Junior Blair, Jermaine Reid, Parmanand Narine, Errol Byass and Viendra Gooniah. The coach is Michael Hyles, assistant coach is Alim Haniff and team manager Hemant Jagdeo.
