Somdat Singh belts second century in NBS cricket

- leads No.71 into finals

Batsman Somdat Singh slammed his second century of the 2013 New Building Society Second Division 40-Over Cricket Competition which continued on Saturday, taking No. 71 to an eight-wicket win over Springlands and a place in the finals.

Singh slammed an unbeaten 111 decorated with 11 fours and nine sixes as his team gunned down their target of 161, cruising to 162 for 2 in 19 overs. Batting first, Springlands scored 160 in 30.4 overs with Trishan Ramdass (43) being the top-scorer.  Navin Vincent 3 for 23 and Nazim Mohamed 3 for 34 were the chief wicket-takers.

At No. 48 ground, No. 48 Challengers beat No. 45 by 88 runs.

No. 48 Challengers made 169 in 25 overs, Parmeshwar Badrinarine 37, Deewan Singh 30, Monesh Lalu 29. Arjune Parath took 3 for 38 and Changoor Persaud 3 for 43. No 45 scored 81 in 14.5 overs, Balram Persaud took 5 for 21.

At No. 73 ground, No. 73 Young Warriors beat Progressive Youth by 10 wickets.

Progressive Youth scored 126 in 28.4 overs, Kadeem Bacchus 28. Gobin Roopram took 4 for 14, Lakeram Latchman 3 for 15 and Nethram Roopram 3 for 19. No. 73 Young Warriors rattled up 130 for no loss in 10.2 overs, Latchman registered 78 not out and Denesh Nethram 32 not out.

At No. 73 ground, Corriverton beat Progressive Youth by 211 runs.

Corriverton scored 292 for 8 in 30 overs, Jermain Reid hit 53 not out, Rabindra Singh 53, Anthony Seeraj 45, Amzad Appalsammy 37. Fiaz Hanif  took 3 for 43. Progressive Youth  made 80 in 17.1 overs. Eric Phillips grabbed 5 for 10 and Amzad Appalsammy 3 for 18.

No. 70 ground , Corriverton beat No. 70 Young Star by 8 wickets.

No. 70 Young Star  scored  91 in 25 overs, Alim Hanif  notched up 46 not out. Jermain Reid took 6 for 27 and Clavern Beresford 2 for 17. Corriverton replied with 92 for 2 in 16.3 overs, Clavern Beresford struck 44 not out and Omesh Kumar took 2 for 20.

At Tain, Albion Travellers beat Belvedere United by 106 runs.

Albion Travellers belted an imposing 256 for 7 in 35 overs. Krishna Kalika scored 70 not out, Brian Algu 47, Subramani Mangali 30, Nirvan Matadin 27. Rohan Kalika took 2 for 43. Belvedere United could only muster 150 in 33 overs, Rohan Kalika compiled 60. Ritesh Harrinarine took 4 for 18, Satesh Hiralall 3 for 31 and Chemendra Goberdhan 2 for 26.

At No. 52 ground, No. 52 Survival beat No. 59 by 97 runs.

No. 52 Survival made 212 for 4 in 20 overs. Colin France scored 50, Michael Kendall 50, Marvin Harvey 41 and Wayne Garnett 34. No 59 1replied with 115 for 8 in 20 overs. Wayne Garnett took 3 for 19 and Marvin Harvey 2 for 31.

At Hampshire, Tamarind Root beat Rose Hall Town Guns and Cannons by 19 runs.

Tamarind Root hit 129 in 29 overs, Asif Ibrahim scored 28, Alvin Ramdass 25. Arjun Narinesammy grabbed 5 for 24. Rose Hall Town Guns and Cannons made 110 for no loss in 28.4 overs, Dilip Rangasammy took 2 for 19 and Michael Ramdihal 2 for 24.

At Rose Hall Town, Fyrish Road beat Belvedere United by 67 runs.

Fyrish Road gathered 170 in 33.5 overs Joseph Kamaludin scored 40, Isaac Kamaludin 35. Rohan Kalika took 2 for 11. Belvedere United replied with 103, Zamin Hamid took 3 for 13, Hassan Hussain 3 for 23 and Shameer Ahmad 2 for 11.
