Elite Next Generation football hampered by rain

The third double header of the Chico/Kashif & Shanghai Elite Next Generation Football Tournament which was scheduled to kick off yesterday at the Den Amstel ground was postponed due to inclement weather.

The matches involving President’s College, Stewartville Secondary, Uitvlugt Secondary and Annandale Secondary will now be played tomorrow at the same venue.

Action starts at 16:00hrs with President’s College tackling Stewartville Secondary at 16:00hrs. Uitvlugt Secondary will then oppose Annandale Secondary two hours later.

Tomorrow, matches will also be played in Linden at the MacKenzie Sports Club ground simultaneously as New Silvercity Secondary will take on Friendship Secondary at 16:00hrs and MacKenzie High School locking horns with Queenstown Secondary at 18:00hrs.

Up to the semifinals, all school-aged children will be admitted free to each game.

The winner of the tournament will pocket a record $1.2M in cash of which 75% will go towards a project identified by the school.

They will also receive a trophy and 25 replicas along with the prize money.
