Doolchand heads DVA as seven new executives elected

The Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) on Saturday last elected  new executives who will serve the fraternity for the next two years with the aim of developing and promoting the sport throughout the country.

Held at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Coast Guard Base located at Ruimveldt, the elections commenced at 14:30hrs and was chaired

by vice-president of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) John Flores. A total of 11 members were elected to respective posts, seven were new executives and four committee members, according to a press release

Newly elected president Jadeshwar Doolchand, vice-president Jarryd Douglas, secretary Shontell Maloney, treasurer Ryan Bridgelall, secretary/treasurer Krystal Yan, public relations officer Tiana Badley and organizing secretary Ronald Smith make up the executive body.

The four committee members elected were Marlon Pearson, Satrohan Ramnarinre, Odile Broomes and Clarence Williams. Doolchand expressed gratitude and thanked those who had faith in him and urged all to work as a team by pooling ideas for the promotion and development of the sport of volleyball.

The newly elected executives also expressed their commitment to work diligently and as a cohesive unit. The new body planned to meet very shortly to discuss and plan activities for the first quarter of 2014 and beyond.
