J Cole could move to number one next week

(Billboard) –  It’s not often that an album climbs to number one on the Billboard 200 chart, but that’s just what might happen next week.

20130706jcoleJ Cole’s ‘Born Sinner’, which debuted at No 2 a week ago, looks like it should take the throne next Wednesday. Industry sources suggest the album, which spent a second week in the runner-up slot this week, may sell around 60,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, July 7.

That figure should be enough to fend off the week’s new releases, which include titles by R&B singer Joe and pop/rock band Relient K, as well as the new Hillsong live album, ‘Glorious Ruins’. The biggest of those titles should be Joe’s ‘Double Back: Evolution of R&B’, with around 25,000.

The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, July 10.

The last album to climb to No 1 — as opposed to debuting at No 1 — was Bruno Mars’ ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ on the chart dated March 16. The set moved to No 1 in its 12th chart week, after debuting at No 2 on the Dec 29, 2012 tally.
