Port security seminar

Representatives from the International Port Security Program, in conjunction with the Maritime Administration of Guyana, conducted a port security seminar on May 6-8, 2014, at the Regency Hotel. 

Yesterday, Alex Griffith (left), the boy who was shot in his mouth by a police officer, received a laptop computer, television set and a DVD player compliments of the Benschop Foundation. The head of the foundation Mark Benschop made the presentation.

Probe into police shooting of teen completed

-file turned over to Police Complaints AuthorityThe police force yesterday announced that its internal investigation of the shooting of 15-year-old Alex Griffith by a policeman has been completed and the case file was yesterday turned over to the Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority.

NAREI reaps carrots, beets

-urges small farmers to plant non-traditional crops  The Agriculture Ministry reaped its first crop of carrots and beets from a joint undertaking by the Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA) and the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) and called on small farmers to cultivate non-traditional crops at a commercial scale to boost their investment returns.

Ghanaian man saved from drowning by Guyanese

His duties do not include “saving someone from drowning in a river” but Lawrence Lachmansingh, Peace and Governance Advisor at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is being hailed a hero after rescuing a youth from drowning in a river in Ghana where the Guyanese is currently stationed.
