Deaf students compete in indoor games

Deaf students from four schools participated in a ‘Play the Game’ activity last Friday, which saw competition in indoor games: Chess, Scrabble, Chinese Checkers and Draughts.

The schools involved were David Rose Special Needs School, New Amsterdam Special Needs School, Special Needs School, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and Tuschen Deaf Academy, a release from the Deaf Association of Guyana (DAG) said. Trophies were donated by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.

At the end of the day, the Chess competition was won by Robin Munilall of New Amsterdam Special Needs School. Representatives from the Guyana Chess Federation observed the matches and the winner had the honour of playing a match against National Chess Champion Wendell Meusa, DAG said.

Sarah Rambarran of Special Needs School EBD won the Draughts competition and Serena Truman from David Rose Special Needs School won the Chinese Checkers competition, the release said.
