City Council asks cops to probe minister’s tax waiver

Georgetown Mayor Hamilton Green yesterday said that he has approached Crime Chief Leslie James to launch an investigation into the actions of Local Government Minister Norman Whittaker, who last month ordered a waiver on rates totalling $27 million on a city property, prompting accusations that he acted outside his legal authority.

Lack of chemistry not reason for defeat

Alpha United Head Coach Wayne Dover said the perceived lack of chemistry within his squad was not the reason for his side’s two defeats and that the possibility exists that changes will be made to the team roster.

Six Trinidad Cement Limited board directors quit

(Trinidad Guardian) Shareholders of Claxton Bay-based Trinidad Cement Ltd (TCL) on Tuesday voted unanimously to elect seven new directors to the board of the regional cement producer, following news that six directors of the company, including its chairman Andy Bhajan and CEO Rollin Bertrand, had tendered their resignations.
