Mullins adjudged best boxer

Up and coming pugilist, Kevin Mullings punched his way to the best boxer award yesterday when the first of two Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) under-16 tournaments concluded at the Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis Gym.

After clinching a victory against Shaquancy Wright in their highly competitive, punch filled bout, the Harpy Eagles product gained the judges nod for the coveted trophy.

The crowd pleasing Mullings put on a dazzling display of attack and defense, counter punching his Essequibo Boxing Gym opponent to earn a unanimous victory.

Besides the best boxer’s trophy, Mullings was also presented with a protective cup by president of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), Steve Ninvalle.

Ninvalle stated that the incident free competition was successful and that they look forward to the staging of the other tournament tentatively set for December.

The GBA head also heaped praises on the local conglomerate for their continued support of the annual fixture.

Andre Williams, Orwayne Harris, Leon Moore Jr, Isaiah Moore, Jonathan Nichols, Shaquille Wright and Christopher Moore were also in the winner’s row yesterday.
