Nadene Gilbert admitted to the local Bar

Twenty-three-year-old Nadene Gilbert was recently admitted to the local bar after attorney Teni Housty presented her petition to Justice Roxane George.

In presenting Gilbert’s petition, Housty urged her to find her strengths in law and use her unique talents. He also advised that while the law may consume her life she should control the impact.

After accepting her petition, Justice George commended Gilbert for reaching this point and advised

her to pursue graduate studies, while keeping abreast of the dynamics in the law. The judge emphasised preparedness, decorum and deportment as key elements to earn respect and to become successful in the profession.

In response, the new attorney thanked Housty for presenting her petition. She also extended gratitude to Justice George for accepting it and for her good counsel. Gilbert said she wishes to learn all she can in the profession and pledged to apply the utmost diligence to her work.

“In my green years, I intend on taking all I can from being in the profession, from mentorship, from all things law. But more so, I wish to someday to be able to give it all back as a stalwart of the profession, like many of whom I admire and see here today and from whom I draw great inspiration,” she said.

The young attorney then expressed special gratitude to her parents Eugene and Yvonne Gilbert and her brother, Dominic. She also thanked a number of other attorneys, teachers, lecturers and professors who also played a significant role in her academic upbringing.
