ATVs, navigation equipment handed over to police

ATVs and navigation and communication equipment were today handed over to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment’s Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) along with the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA). A release from the Ministry of Natural Resources said that the presentation of the equipment was part of an enhanced inter-agency monitoring and enforcement programme in the various mining districts.

Present were Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Robert Persaud, Commissioner of the GGMC, Rickford Vieira,  Commissioner of the GPF, Seelall Persaud, representatives of the GGDMA and stakeholders and senior officers of the Guyana Police Force.

The release said there was also an interaction between senior officers of the Ministry and its agencies with the Commissioner of Police and senior members of his team. The handing over took place in the Guyana Geology and Mines Commissions’ Compound, Upper Brickdam.
