Following a commitment from the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Robert M. Persaud and the reconvening of the Closed Area Committee, an auction was held today and is expected to continue tomorrow for medium scale mining properties.
The auction was made possible following discussions with the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association and the mining sector regulatory agency, the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission. This is the first auction since 2009.
