One Mile Primary $170m contract cleared

HPS and Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon announced yesterday that no objections were offered to eight contracts in six sectors, including one valued $170.22M for the construction of the One Mile Primary School.

Luncheon made this announcement at his post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President. A second contract in the education sector; for the procurement of licence-free materials, consultancy and accessories for the University of Guyana Online Degree Programme (Open University) has also been okayed. This contract is valued $32.1M, he said, according to a Government Information Agency (GINA) report.

In the health sector a contract valued $21.9M for the supply and delivery of office furniture and equipment for the Ministry of Health has also been green-lighted.

In the public works sector (maritime administration) no objections were offered for a $45.4M contract for the procurement of fuel meters and one generator for the Transport and Harbours Department.

In the ICT sector, a contract valued $52.6M was okayed for the supply of photovoltaic systems, cable switches and accessories for the Hinterland Electrification Programme. Meanwhile, two contracts were green-lighted in the natural resources sector. The first, valued $20.4M for the construction of a parking lot and cycle shed at the National Park and the second, for the construction of a petting zoo at the Zoological Park. The second contract is valued $32.5M.

In the local government sector (roads) a $22.29M contract was also given the go-ahead for the rehabilitation and continuation of the main access at Hague, West Coast Demerara.
