‘Race to the Altar’ returns with this year’s Wedding Expo

Betrothed Guyanese couples will have the opportunity to win an all-expenses-paid wedding of their dream compliments of the Roraima group.

‘Race to the Altar’, an event first held last year, returns this year, Marketing Manager at Roraima Duke Lodge Shamaine Davis said yesterday.

‘Race to the Altar’ will see couples competing in a series of activities that will test their compatibility. Last year, 5 shortlisted couples were taken on a tour of Roraima’s Arrowpoint Resort. They were presented to the public through talk shows and, through a text-based competition, a favourite twosome was chosen as the winner. Their wedding was held as part of the Roraima-hosted Wedding Expo. Couples wishing to participate in this year’s event can uplift application forms at the Roraima Airways, R8 Eping Avenue, Bel Air Park, Georgetown. Five finalists will be decided upon after interviews and a process of elimination.

Davis relayed that the competition was well-received last year when it was created. The wedding of the winning couple will occur on the second day of the three-day Wedding Expo, which is slated for March 28 to 30.

The closing date for the submission of applications is January 28.

The Annual Wedding Expo, which started in 2007, features a number of large and small local businesses and allows them to market themselves to their intended audience. Davis stated that it is a collaborative effort involving Roraima and other entities such as King’s Jewellery World. According to her, the expo is slated to be launched on January 31 at the Roraima Duke Lodge.
