Cop shot in robbery attack, recovering

Police Constable Kirk Profitt who was shot early Saturday morning by two men is recovering in the Male Surgical Ward at the Georgetown Public Hospital after undergoing surgery.

Profitt, 38, of lot ‘K’ Bent Street, Wortmanville was headed home around 5:30 that morning after dropping his girlfriend home when he was attacked by two men armed with a gun and a knife. Profitt said that he tried to protect himself but was shot suddenly.

The men ran away with his cell phone and $10,000 while Profitt was rushed to the hospital after a resident in the neighbourhood saw him bleeding.
