Guyana gets Dairy Queen franchise

Guyana is about to become the first South American nation to site a Dairy Queen store.

Camex Restaurants Inc, franchise holder for Church’s Chicken, Mario’s Pizza, Quiznos and Juici Patties, made the announcement yesterday of the acquisition of its fifth franchise.

A press release from Camex said that the United States-based Dairy Queen is one of the most popular chains of soft serve ice cream in the fast food industry.  It also said that the opening in Guyana will be the Dairy Queen’s first store in South America.

Camex said it plans to open several Dairy Queen stores across Guyana, including one at its new Vreed-en Hoop location, which is scheduled to open within the upcoming days.

“The Dairy Queen system is proud to welcome Guyana into the DQ family and thrilled to be serving its fans our world-famous soft-serve treats,” the release quoted Dairy Queen as saying.

“At Dairy Queen, our mission is to create positive memories for all who touch DQ.  Whether it is getting your favourite Blizzard Treat served upside down, or celebrating at home with a DQ cake, it is our vision to be your favorite treat destination.  To do this we are committed to worldwide growth so that our fans can easily enjoy their favorite DQ treats.  Dairy Queen is the original soft serve ice cream retailer and it is today the largest ice cream chain in the world.

“Dairy Queen continues to be the gathering spot in many communities and cultures around the globe and we are excited to be sharing our heritage as we celebrate this special occasion here in Guyana,” it added.
