`Satan Ambassador’ wanted over robbery

Weeks after murder charges against him were discharged at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, police yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for Rawle Newton in connection with an armed robbery committed last Saturday.

The bulletin stated that 27-year-old Newton also known as `Satan Ambassador’ is wanted for questioning in relation to robbery under arms which was committed on Charles James at Parfait Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.

Police described him as of medium build. He was last known to be living at Lot 119 Caesar Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara and Lot 35 Princes Street, Lodge, Georgetown.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that the man was recently freed of a double murder following a preliminary inquiry at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.

Back in September 2010, Newton had appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court charged with the murders of gold dealers Jainarine Raghubir and Ramdeo Deonarine. Ex-soldier Keron Herbert was also charged in relation to the murders. Several others had appeared before the court for aiding and abetting Nelson after he would have committed the crime; not only for habouring him but for also receiving some of the cash and jewellery that were stolen from the slain men.

Millions of dollars in cash, gold and diamonds was taken from the Second Avenue, Bartica house where the bodies of the two gold dealers were discovered on the morning of Sunday September 5, 2010.

Deonarine, 50, of Ruby, East Bank Essequibo and Raghubar, 43, of Fairfield, Essequibo Coast were discovered on the kitchen floor of a Second Avenue Bartica house. They bore deep wounds to the throat and they were bound.
