Another suspect was held over Agricola murder

Guyana Police Force spokesman Ivelaw Whittaker says that another person was arrested in connection with the murder of Donna Taylor, who was found dead with her throat slit in her backyard at Agricola last month.

Whittaker said that the police had detained a man but later released him after they found no evidence against him. He stated that their investigations are ongoing.

Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Private Abiola Jacobs was charged with Taylor’s murder after she was identified by a houseguest who was present on the night of the murder.

Taylor, 55 of 1617 Public Road Agricola, the mother of Jacobs’ boyfriend, was discovered on January 31, in her backyard bound and with her throat slit, while British national Samantha Sabat, Taylor’s houseguest, was found unconscious in the front of the yard. Sabat sustained a broken arm and head injuries after jumping over a veranda to escape the deadly attack. Jacobs was arrested after she was identified by Sabat as one of the attackers.

The murder, relatives said, stemmed from Taylor’s son’s involvement with Sabat, who was lodging at Taylor’s home, while he was in a relationship with Jacobs. Sabat had told relatives and police that Jacobs and a few men barged into the house and attacked them.

Sabat returned to the United Kingdom a few weeks ago.
