Fraud accused granted bail

A Wortmanville man is now on bail, after he appeared in a city court charged with conspiring to falsely obtain $400,000 from a woman.

It is the police’s case that Jude Mc Lennan, of D’Urban Street conspired to swindle Latoya Whitehead during the period July 17 – September 19, 2012, at George-town. Mc Lennan denied the charge.

Mc Lennan’s lawyer, Patrice Henry, told the court that his client has an unblemished record and made a bail application.

Police Prosecutor Michael Grant did not object to bail but asked Magistrate Faith McGusty to impose the condition that the accused report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters. The magistrate later granted Mc Lennan $200,000 bail, with the condition that he report to CID, Eve Leary every Friday at 9 am, until his next court date.

The case will be called again on April 9.
