According to a press release from the Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD), the incident occurred at approximately 2.15 am and halted the loading operations.

This newspaper was told that the driver of the truck managed to jump to safety before the vehicle took the plunge and the T&HD statement said there were no injuries or casualties.

The statement said that currently efforts are being made by the T&HD to have the truck salvaged in an effort to expedite the resumption of loading operations.

Some 20 trucks were on the vessel.

T&HD apologized for any inconvenience caused.
