Albion businessman robbed near bank

A businessman was robbed of approximately $10 million yesterday as he was about to make a deposit at Republic Bank, Rose Hall, Corentyne.

Details were sketchy, but according to information reaching this newspaper, Ramlingan Mangali co-owner of Permaul’s Snackette at Albion was apprehended by gunmen at around 7 am.

The gunmen reportedly pulled up on a motorcycle and fired shots demanding that the man hand over the money.

They later escaped in the Rose Hall backlands. Police accompanied by Mangali, later scoured the area in search of the men.

The outcome of the search is not known as several calls to Mangali went unanswered. Police did not issue a statement on the robbery.
