Fingerprint match lands Grove man on larceny charge

A Grove, East Bank Demerara man yesterday found himself before a city court accused of stealing over $100,000 from a parked car after police said his fingerprints were found at the crime scene.

Jason Hunte, 44, denied that on November, 7, 2013, at Camp Street, he stole $196,000, which was the property of Ashram Ali.

It is the police’s case that Hunte, a taxi driver, broke into Ali’s parked car in front of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Camp Street. According to Prosecutor Deniro Jones, upon Ali’s return, he found the side quarter glass window shattered and the money missing. A report was made and the
