Five charged with murder of kidnapped businessman

Five men appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court this morning charged with the murder of kidnapped businessman, Rajendra Singh and were all remanded to prison.

Doednauth Ketwaru called `Pumpkin’, Sheldon Chase called `Taz’, Adony James called `Dony’, Michael Lewis called `J-Ice’ and Tony Thomas called `Tony Matteran’ will all return to court on May 21.

Their lawyers during their court appearance said that the men were beaten while in custody and requested medical examinations. Magistrate Ann Mc Clennon granted their request.

Singh was kidnapped at gunpoint from his business place at Foulis, East Coast Demerara on April 5. A ransom demand was later made.

Four days later he was found in the Le Repentir cemetery with gunshot wounds to the head.
