Accused claims was given stolen motor blower to sell

A North West District man was on Tuesday granted bail when he appeared before the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on a charge of simple larceny.

Magistrate Sunil Scarce heard that on April 14 at Caledonia Estate, Lower Pomeroon River, Ryan Emmanuel called ‘Braff’ stole one motor blower valued $170,000 from Essequibo businessman, Roopan Ramotar.

According to the police facts, Emanuel who is a labourer, worked with Ramotar on his estate and on the day in question, he stole the motor blower.

Emanuel denied these claims and he told the court that he was given the article to sell.

He was not represented and pleaded not guilty to the charge read to him.

Police Prosecutor Krishnadatt Ramana told the court that the item was recovered and he made no objections to bail.

Bail was subsequently set in the sum of $100,000 and Emmanuel was ordered to return to the Charity Magistrate’s Court on May 12.
