Biker hit down by canter

A Haslington, East Coast Demerara resident was struck down by a canter truck on his way to work yesterday morning.

Jermaine Bernard, 25, survived the accident and is now nursing cuts about his body at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

According to his partner Sonia Dutt, Bernard was riding a motorcycle on his way to work when he was struck by a truck in the vicinity of Atlantic Gardens, sometime between 8am and 8:30am.

“He has no broken bones,” Bernard’s aunt told this newspaper at the hospital. The woman said Bernard was in pain when she visited him yesterday afternoon. She added that he was crying out about pains in his head and for that reason he was admitted for further observation.
