Man charged with stealing from cousin

Days after a man reported that his CD and DVD decks were stolen from his car, the cousin with whom he shares an address was placed before a city court for the theft.

Bruce Sudin, of 32 Agricola Public Road, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

According to Prosecutor Michael Grant, on April 16, Nateram Sankar secured his car and went out. When he returned two days later, he found that the CD deck and the DVD deck were missing.

The matter was reported to the police and an investigation revealed that the perpetrator was in fact Sudin, Grant said, before telling the court that upon questioning the man confessed to the crime. Sudin then showed ranks where he hid the articles, he further said, adding that only the CD deck was, however, recovered.

According to Grant, the stolen property amounted to a total of $151,000.

Sudin was granted $100,000 bail and will return to court on May 16, when the statements are due to be filed.
