Cops probing alleged station beating of complainant by drunken lawman

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is investigating reports of a man being beaten at the Aurora Police Station on Sunday evening by an officer who was allegedly drunk.

The investigation, ordered by acting Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud, was prompted by a letter published in yesterday’s edition of Stabroek News, under the heading “Beaten at police station,” in which the writer, Latchman Narine Bhodnarine, said he had been the victim of police brutality at the hands of one of the station’s ranks.
