T&T PM announces TT$2.5m reward for info on Seetahal murder

(Trinidad Express) Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced that the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the murder of senior counsel Dana Seetahal, has been increased to TT$2.5 million.
Persad-Bissessar made the disclosure after emerging from a meeting of the National Security Council held at the Teaching Hospital at Chancery Lane, San Fernando this afternoon. On the day of Seetahal’s killing, Crime Stoppers had issued a TT$1 million reward. Persad-Bissessar also said that should the police need foreign help in cracking the case, it would be provided.
Persad-Bissessar convened a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) at around 5p.m. Peoples Partnership members Prakash Ramadhar, Vasant Bharath, Gary Griffith, Gerard Hadeed, Kevin Ramnarine, Suruj Rambachan, Ganga Singh, Roodal Moonilal, Emmanuel George, Chairman of the UDeCOTT Jerlean John, DCP Mervyn Richardson, Acting CoP Stephen Willaims, and Chief of Defence Staff Major General, Kenrick Maharaj, attended. Minister of National Security Gary Griffith said he intended to recommend to the NSC an increase in the National Alert State from green to amber. He said the increase in alert means heightening of operational preparedness and visibility of all law enforcement agencies. The NSC comprises the Chief of Defence Staff, Commissioner of Police, Director of Strategic Services Agencies and various heads of the protective services.
