Bush Lot family under threat from rotten pole

A resident of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice, Pradeep Gulab says that despite several reports to the Guyana Power & Light (GPL) about a rotten utility pole in his yard, it has still not been removed.

That man is fearful that the pole which is leaning against electrical wires would fall and cause injuries to him and his family.

He is also afraid to let his children play in the yard because of that. He said too that an electrical wire attached to another pole is leaning on his house and can result in a fire.

Gulab said he would not be able to rest comfortably since the rotten pole, which is infested with ‘wood ants,’ is a disaster waiting to happen.

For the past three months he has been making reports and the last time he visited the GPL office at Onverwagt, workers promised to go a few days later to take it away it but never turned up.
