Venezuelans fined for illegally entering North West

 

Two Venezuelans who admitted that they illegally entered Guyana to conduct business were yesterday fined and ordered to be deported.

Jean Carlos Nonez and Jesus Gomez appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and, through a t`mmigration officer. The crime was said to have occurred in the North West District.

According to Prosecutor Michael Grant, the facts were as charged.

When questioned about their purpose in Guyana, the men explained that they had come for business. The duo had no previous trouble with the law.

The men were both fined $30,000 with an alternative of a month in prison. Following the payment of the fine or their imprisonment, the men will be deported from Guyana.
