Cops hunting for Essequibo man who shot at wife

Essequibo police are hunting for a Three Friends, Essequibo Coast man who allegedly shot at his estranged reputed wife during an argument, causing a bullet to graze the side of her head.

According to reports, the 24-year-old mother of two was treated at the Suddie Public Hospital and sent away.

Reports said she had separated from her reputed husband and had gone to live with her mother at Hampton Court. This publication was told that early yesterday morning, the man went to his wife’s mother’s house and asked to see his children. The woman met him outside and she refused and an argument ensued between the two.

During the argument, the man allegedly pulled out a gun and fired four rounds at his wife. One of the bullets grazed the side of her head. Family members immediately picked her up and took her to the Suddie Public Hospital where she was treated and later sent away.

The matter was reported to the police and up to press time a search was being conducted for the man who has since gone into hiding.

Stabroek News was told that the man is not a licensed firearm holder.
