NA man charged with murdering ex-lover dies in prison

Police today said that Robert Sandy, 48 years, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, the man accused of murdering his estranged teenaged lover died today at the New Amsterdam Prison.

Sandy had been charged with the murder of Onika Greaves which occurred on May 19, 2014, and had appeared in court yesterday, where he was remanded to prison until June 09, 2014.

He was suspected of having consumed a poisonous substance following the murder and had been admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital under guard until Monday May 26, 2014, when he was discharged, the police said.

His death will likely raise questions as to whether he had been discharged too early from the hospital.
