Queen’s College for revamp

 

Education Minister Priya Manickchand has promised to revamp parts of Queen’s College after administrative staff and board members complained about insufficient furniture, the Ministry of Education said in a press release.

The release stated that the Parent Teachers Association, Board of Governors, Head Teacher, and Administrative Department of Queen’s College met the minister to discuss the current state of the school and inadequate staffing.

Manickchand then promised to address these issues and ensure that the school has sufficient teachers and furniture. She asked the school, along with the PTA, to compile a complete list of vacancies and furnishings needed, while assuring them that she will see to it that the school has an improved plumbing system in certain buildings. She also promised to have repairs and painting, and electrical work performed the buildings.

According to the statement, she further assured the representatives that the ministry will carry out expansion works which will include a cafeteria and rooms that will be used for special events and club meetings.

The release added that Queen’s College is one of many schools listed for rehabilitation works and overall enhancement interventions this year.
