Fugitive gets 12 months for stabbing

After evading capture for two previous convictions, a D’Urban Street man, who admitted that he stabbed another man multiple times during an argument was yesterday sentenced to 12 months in jail.

 

Levi Williams, 28, of 7 D’urban Street, appeared before Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Paul Hamilton. He pleaded guilty when the charge was put to him.

According to Prosecutor Jomo Nicols, on May 22, at D’Urban Street, Hamilton went to a shop on D’Urban Street at about 2:30am. Williams, the court heard, was at the shop at the time.

The men exchanged words and it is alleged by Williams that he was cuffed by Hamilton. In retaliation,
