At approximately 20:15h yesterday a Guyana registered ship encountered difficulties while entering the Berbice River, the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) said today.
A release from MARAD said it is currently aground outside of the main ships’ channel at the entrance to the River. All of the crewmembers have been taken off, while officials from the Maritime Administration Department are monitoring the situation and working with the owner for the safe recovery of the vessel, the release said.
An investigation into this incident is already underway, MARAD said.
