Man found dead in city cemetery identified

The man found dead in Le Repentir Cemetery on Tuesday has been identified as Jermaine Marshall and although police suspect that he took his own life by ingesting a pesticide, his family is rejecting the notion of suicide.

Marshall, 38, of 219 Freeman Street, East La Penitence, died as a result of pesticide poisoning, police said yesterday. The release further mentioned that the post-mortem examination determining the cause of death was conducted yesterday by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.

Marshall’s sister said she last saw him on Monday night, at approximately 8:45pm. She said he was wearing the very clothing he was found in. The distraught woman said she is unable to say how her brother met his demise but rejected the notion that he might have killed himself.

She said Marshall, who she described as loving, recently relocated from Soesdyke, and led a quiet life. “Nobody believes it was suicide,” she later declared.

Marshall was the father of an eight-year-old girl.

Police are still investigating the matter suspected to be suicide.
