WPA Headquarters broken into, equipment stolen

The Working People’s Alliance’s Head Office on New Garden Street, Georgetown was broken into early Thursday morning.

Administrator of Rodney House and Executive WPA member Desmond Trotman stated that approximately $500,000 worth of equipment was stolen. He said that he discovered that a window had been broken and the premises ransacked when he arrived at 8:30 am on Thursday.

Trotman said that he was very pleased with the police’s fast response time and the level of investigative work that was carried out thus far. He noted that upon entering the building he immediately noticed the public address system was missing along with three computers and two printers. He said that various other items were also missing including paint and toiletries and of some concern, a cheque book.

He said that the police attempted to take fingerprints at the scene but it was determined that due to smudging it was likely that the burglars wore gloves.

Trotman said that neighbours were not aware of any odd activity on Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, however the police noted they would increase patrols in the vicinity.
